Hi,
My city of Dunwoody, GA uses the 2012 International Fuel Gas Code, without changes.
My Chimney has a separate flue, clay lined, for the furnace and HWH. I am NOT replacing the HWH right now.
I have an 80% furnace, and the HWH, hooked to the flue.
Assuming that the chimney flue meets the manufacturer's size requirements, and that the chimney is in good condition, amd I able to make a "simple" replacement of the old 80% 125,000 btu unit with an 80% 60-70,000 btu unt.
I am being told I have to use a 95% unit, for more money of course.
I am looking at Section 503.5.6, and the "Exception" listed there.
Thanks for your help.
