Hey guys, I am new to the forum and let me say right now that I am a lowly homeowner/equipment owner, not a pro. If I am in the wrong place someone tell me and I will gracefully back out.
I have a concern about a new installation of Lennox residential equipment, that replaced an 18 year old Lennox gas fired furnace and AC, and I am looking for a second opinion. The concern is that I THINK that my two stage air conditioner is running at second stage only. I am trying to determine if that is true. What I would like to know is this should I be able to hear a difference in sound level at the outside unit between stage 1 to stage 2.
I have confirmed that the stage 2 time delay is set to 20 minutes. If I allow the system to call for cooling, then gradually reduce the thermostat set point 1 degree at a time so that the cooling run is at least 30 minutes, I do not hear a difference of any kind in compressor or condenser fan speed/sound during the entire run. I am standing 15 feet from the condenser during the entire observation (using icomfort app to control/reduce set point). On an 82 degree day, with indoor temp of about 73 degrees, I am observing a supply temperature of around 48 to 50 degrees at a supply register approximately 6 feet from the furnace (wall opposite garage mounted furnace).
Equipment as follows:
Furnace/blower MN: SL280UH090V60C-03
Air Conditioner MN: XC16S048-230-04
icomfort WI-FI Thermostat (latest model)
Stage 1 blower set to 1,000 CFM
Stage 2 blower set to 1,250
Thermostat humidity control turned Off.
No zoning.
Approx. 3200 feet of conditioned space.
Your advice would be most appreciated.
