Air returns

I am remodeling a old home and having hvac installed. My hvac guy has only one return on the first floor, located in the living room. The first floor is roughly 1400 sq ft and consists of a sunroom, living room , kitchen, foyer, and mudroom. Is this adequate. I also have concerns over the size of unit that was installed to cool the area.
