Help with DC relays and switches

Hi everyone, Have an issue with my exhaust cutout. I will try and explain my crude paint wiring diagram as best I can. Left: How my exhaust cutout was wired. Could open or close with a remote. Something in the control box malfunctioned, and it started melting (worked for almost a year) Middle: (Control box gone) wires straight, will open the cut out Right: (Control box gone) wires crossed, will close the cutout Any one know how to wire this up to work again, maybe with a relay and a 3way switch? I obviously don't want to swap the wires every time I want to open and close. I'm have a basic understanding of electricity, but I just can't seem to find the simple info on things like DPDT 3 way switches to wire it correctly. Thanks for any help everyone!
