A senior tech is saying that the coil on a liquid line solenoid valve for a walk-in cooler or freezer will burn out if it's energized while not mounted on the valve stem. I am fairly certain this is not true... i figure it would be similar to having a phone charger plugged into the wall with no phone attached. Havent' found any literature online to clarify this issue. Does anyone have any insight on this ??

Vista 20P + AD12612 - One transformer or two?
I am adding keypads to my Vista 20P (Tuxedos). So I got the AD12612 and ordered the 1361X transformer for it. I have read mixed results on whether I should use 2 transformers, the 1321 to power the pannel and 1361 to power the AD12612, or just use the 1361 to power both.
Any advice on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

New Construction Basement Duct Problem

I am the owner of a new custom built home, and have been in the home a few months. I am beginning the process of planning a basement finishing and I was doing a thorough walkthrough/inspection looking for problem areas, etc. In doing so I noticed that where the 90 degree elbows that come out of the first floor registers and between the joists in the basement actually drop ~2 inches below the joist level. These are all of the 8" runs that feed the 1st floor and all four of them have the same issue. The duct is flex, but obviously the elbow is not. There is no way you would be able to attach drywall to the ceiling as is.
Am I crazy to consider this unacceptable? Or would it be reasonable for me to contact my builder and see if he will send the HVAC contractor out to address it? I don't even know if it can be easily fixed.
The only workaround I can think of is to build a soffit when finishing the basement but it just seems ridiculous to me to have to do that. I'd have to run a soffit the entire length of the back wall of the home.

Having an issue with S2 compressor oil separator coalescer coming apart plugging oil line passage. Part is obsolete through York. Anyone have any recommendations?
Ufer and Grounding Rods
Hi Guys -
New member here and I wanted to ask a question. I've had some issues with the electric on my new house, let me break it down for better understanding.
1) We had copper running directly to the Ufer without any issues. Someone came and stole the copper so it failed the first inspection.
2) They ran 2 grounding rods (since a direct connection to the Ufer couldn't be made) and the inspector failed it again. He said it needed to go to the Ufer.
3) They removed the grounding rods and spliced together two pieces of copper to the Ufer. The inspection passed.
4) Our 3rd party inspector said he recommended adding one continues piece of copper to the two grounding rods. He then recommend that we splice the copper from the Ufer to the first grounding rod.
5) Please check out the pictures and let me know if this is sufficient and safe.
